ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM From Neolithic Obsidian era to Roman period, from the “lady of Phylakopi” to the findings
of the great art of Klima, a small but important museum is nested in a beautiful neo-classical building at the area of Plaka.
 
FOLK MUSEUM
FOLK MUSEUM Ground floor are representations of the daily life on Milos from the 16th century onwards. Museum is divided in rooms (kitchen, bedroom, cellar etc), where dolls are wearing traditional clothes. Upper floor houses the historical section of the museum (documents, maps, books).
CATACOMBS
CATACOMBS An early Christian community cemetery continuing in use to the end of the 5th century. It consists of a complex of three catacombs. Passages join the three catacombs together.
Niche-like graves (arcosolia) are cut into the side walls of the passageways; some of these were family graves. They are decorated with plant patterns and symbolic representations.
MINING MUSEUM
MINING MUSEUM “Yesterday & Today” - Illuminated panels show us mining today; tools and equipment are exhibited from the mines and laboratories of the past. There are display cabinets with the most industrially significant minerals of Milos today. Displays of fossils, obsidian, bauxite, alumina, aluminum, etc. A fully equipped video room tells us the chronicle of mining on the island

Aghia Triada - The only other place in which one can see this unusual style of architecture is in Arcadia in the Peloponnese. Beautiful icons of Emmanuel Skordilis decorate this 16th century church, which today is an Ecclesiastical museum. - “Panagia tou Kipou” with the old baptistery, “Aghios Ioannis Siderianos” known for his miracles and other churches, worth a visit.

ROMAN THEATRE
Seven tiers of the auditorium & six flights of steps remain in existence of this Roman marble theatre, not far from the place where Venus of Milos was found, which testifies to the high cultural level of the Milians of that time.
ABANDONED MINES
ABANDONED MINES The old Sulphur mines in eastern Milos and Vani iron mines in western Milos are something more than monuments of industrial archaeology of the past century. They are isolated places with a unique atmosphere, placed near the sea, resting their ruins peacefully, surrounded by colorful rock formations.
HOT SPRINGS
HOT SPRINGS There are several hot spots : Hot steaming from the area of the volcano in Aghia Kyriaki.
Hot sand and waters in Paleochori beach with a distinct sulphur smell. Hot bubbles coming from the bottom of the sea, very close to the shore of Kanava, outside the main power station of the island.
FESTIVALS & TRADITION
FESTIVALS & TRADITION There are many local traditional feasts on the island mostly with a religious character. Well known on Eastern Sunday is the burning of a straw doll called Judas and a dynamites show at Triovassalos called “Baroutopolemos”; During summer several “Panighiria” take place and modern Greek music events with famous musicians.
